The board of directors shall be responsible for the governance and general administration of the Association.

Doug grew up on a family farm near Donnybrook/Kenmare ND. He graduated from Kenmare High and NDSU in the early 90’s. Miller started farming full time in 1996 with Miller Farms and Miller Golden Acres where they have been raising and conditioning certified seed since 1975.  He currently lives near Kenmare and married Laura Miller in 2004. They have four children, Mashae, Mavrick, Mersadie and Maguire, who all attend Kenmare public school and keep them quite busy!

Troy Coons

Troy is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Northwest Landowners Association and has served on the Board of Directors since founding the organization in 2007.   Coons is a graduate of North Dakota State University and hails from Donnybrook, ND. Before founding Northwest Landowners Association, Coons has been involve  in a variety of different industries both in North Dakota and California, including leading a fitness facility, catering company and building his family farm into a registered and certified seed farm.

In addition to serving as the CEO of C&C Farms and C&C Snow & Gravel, Coons also serves on several regional, statewide, and international boards of directors. These boards include Meridian Seeds, State Crop & Seed Association, Mountrail County Ag Improvement Board, Mountrail County Township Association, Loland Township Association, Dakota Select Seeds, High Country Land Association, NDSU Advisory Board, Kenmare Economic Development Board (past), Ward County Ag Improvement Board (past), Indoor Suns Systems Worldwide Manufacture & Sales Company (past), Meridian Ventures, ND Flax Council, Rural Fire Department Board (past), and City of Donnybrook Fire Department Board (past).

Parker Gates

Parker grew up on his family’s farm near Mohall. He was always at the farm or in the field from the moment he was born. He started renting his own ground as a freshman in high school. He graduated from Mohall Lansford Sherwood High School in 2010 and went to BSC for 2 years for farm management classes before returning home to continue farming with his dad, raising certified and registered seed.

Carson farms in southwest ND north of Regent with his wife and son. They raise spring wheat, canola, corn, sunflowers and soybeans. Carson has been on the NDCISA board for 6 years. He also serves on the board for Farm Credit Services of Mandan, St. Henry’s parish council and the Hettinger county planning and zoning board. As a sideline Kouba has an ag equipment and auto repair shop.

Charlie grew up on his parents’ farm in Nelson county. After high school, he attended U of M Crookston and majored in Plant Industries Management-Agronomy. Stein worked for Farmers Union Drayton as an Agronomist before returning to the farm. While in Drayton, he met his wife, and they have three teenage children. They raise several crops for seed production. In his spare time, he enjoys camping, fishing, traveling, and going to their kids’ activities.

Mark is a fourth-generation farmer. He started farming over 40 years ago while still in high school. After graduating from high school Seastrand attended Lake Region Community College, studying diesel mechanics and farm and ranch management. In 1988, he went back to college at Minot State to study Chemistry. Mark has been married for 25 years and has one daughter who is following her mother’s footsteps into the teaching field.

Jeremiah farms with his family in north central Towner County between Bisbee and Rock Lake. They raise soybeans, spring wheat, pinto beans, barley, and flax along with growing certified seed. Jeremiah attended NDSU and earned a bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness. He also is a director on the Towner County Crop Improvement Board and Northstar School Board.

Blane was born and raised in Jud, a small town in southeast ND.   He and his brother, Blake, started farming 25 years ago, with a partner, to fit a niche in their current farming operation.  It has been a successful and rewarding endeavor, and has grown from a small seed business to a certified seed cleaning plant and bulk retailer.  As the next generation is becoming part of the operation, and farming is ever-evolving, we hope it will continue to be a legacy for the future.

Matthew Buchholz farms with his family near Casselton, ND and is a 4th generation farmer. They have a certified seed cleaning plant and raise and sell certified seed. He attended NDSCS for farm management post high school.

Board of Directors Structure

  • The Board of Directors shall be responsible for the governance and general administration of the Association.
  • The Board of Directors shall include two directors elected from each of the following districts:
    • Northeast District
    • Southeast District
    • Southwest District
    • Northwest District
    • Two at-large directors from the East Districts
    • Two at-large directors from the West Districts

  • Twelve voting members represent four districts.
