HARD RED SPRING WHEAT

ND Thresher

ND Frohberg HRSW

ND Thresher is shorter statured, high yielding wheat best adapted to high yield potential environments in Eastern and Central North Dakota. It has a height about 1” taller than SY Valda, and a heading date similar to Faller. Relative to Faller, it has improved straw strength by about 15%. Statewide yield potential is similar to SY Ingmar and Elgin-ND, with yield potential similar to Lang-MN  and MN Torgy in the East (from NDSU breeding program data). In Central North Dakota, it has shown as similar yield potential as Barlow, and ND Frohberg. It is moderately resistant to FHB and bacterial leaf streak (BLS). In NDSU breeding program screening over multiple years, only Boost has shown superior BLS resistance. It has superior milling and baking quality and high grain protein content.
