HARD RED SPRING WHEAT
ND Roughrider
ND Roughrider
ND Roughrider is a medium-statured wheat with very good yield potential. It has performed exceptionally well over the past five years through extensive testing. It has similar straw strength to Faller and has been shown to have a yield advantage over ND Stampede in drought environments. It provides a good level of protein when managed properly or in marginal environments. The end-use quality may fluctuate based on protein content, but is very similar to SY Valda. It is similar to ND Stampede for leaf rust and stem rust, and more resistant to stripe rust. It is moderately resistant to fusarium head blight with respect to kernel damage. It is recommended for and most adapted to be grown in the western portion of North Dakota, likely west of Highway 83.
